DEC 25 - CHRISTMAS IN KABUL 2011

While most musicians take Christmas as a time to relax and recharge -- and maybe do a few local gigs -- Ottawa's Amanda Rheaume had another way of celebrating Christmas. The singer-songwriter spent the holiday travelling from Ottawa to Rome, Kuwait, and Kabul to perform for Canadian Forces members deployed there.

And while she was the only professional musician on the tour, she was accompanied by a few notable guests -- Governor General David Johnston, Minister of National Defence Peter MacKay, Leader of the Liberal Party Bob Rae, and General Walt Natynczyk, the Chief of the Defence Staff.

ROOTS MUSIC CANADA REVIEWS "LIGHT OF ANOTHER DAY"

Amanda Rheaume’s Light of Another Day dawns

"...Because Light of Another Day has taken Rheaume quite some distance from a calculated pop confection. With modest percussion in the back of the sound and acoustic guitar at the forefront, the CD’s 11 songs find a unique place where country, folk, and pop intersect."

NEW CD

"Light of Another Day", Amanda's first full length release, is an acoustic-based LP, focused on positive energy and moving forward.  Themes of hope, community and new beginnings are reflected in the lyrics of songs that are stripped-down in a way that Amanda describes as coming full circle as she really finds her sound and writing style again.

Guests on the CD include Steve Marriner from Monkey Junk, Anders Drerup, Ross Murray, Fred Guigon and Chris Breitner.

The CD will be available online and at shows in June!
